The project will formally train selected representatives on the important aspects of the Fair Trade world to be effective trainers. Once trained, their job will be to develop understanding of fair trade among Indian micro enterprises and producer groups.

The project will deliver many benefits for its participants including a tool kit to help train the Indian fair trade producers on Fair Trade

Informational and educational materials, written in various languages, for reference and knowledge transfer

Ten trainers from Indian fair trade organisations will be trained on fair trade and will be responsible for increasing the understanding of fair trade towards adhering to its standards groups.

Activities

The project will involve the following tasks

Baseline study
The baseline study will allow to understand the current position of Fair Trade MSEs, intermediary organisations and the EU partner organisations. This will help define the detailed requirements of participants and will also allow to measure that the project is successful

Development of Fair Trade tool kit
The toolkit will provide the Indian Fair Trade MSEs and intermediary organisations with practical materials so that they can better understand their responsibilities as Fair Trade partners

Training of trainers / mentors
Ten Fair Trade trainers and four Fair Trade mentors will be trained to educate Indian Fair Trade MSEs on Fair Trade standards and compliance

Field visits to Fair Trade MSEs
The trainers & mentors will visit a number of Indian Fair Trade MSEs to understand the challenges they face in applying Fair Trade standards

EU visit
The ten trainers will visit Europe to better understand Europe’s Fair Trade markets

Fair Trade producers
One hundred Fair Trade MSEs will be trained and supported in the practical application of Fair Trade standards
