Fair Trade is young!!! Even at its 60th (of more?!) year!!!

Yesterday, we found three young ladies - students of "Fair Trade" studying in the Red Cross Institute, Sweden, knocking the doors of FTF-I. At FTF-I, our young Fair Trade researcher, Maren from Germany received them!! It is not just about Sweden and Germany, India, a Fair Trade juvenile (juvenile in terms of domestic sales/ FT in India is also 4 decades old!!) also witness a ‘Fair’ enthusiasm among youngsters whenever they hear this ‘Fair’ Idea.
A few days before, around 100 students in the prestigious Miranda House (Delhi University), were so keen to know Fair Trade in its length and breadth. They find it so smart for it appealing on many grounds. Climate change, child labour, dignified deal for women, poverty alleviation; they tried to check the ‘Fair’ Idea, in many ways. And, while responding to them, I found they are happy with 'Fair Trade' for its viability and adaptableness!!!
FTF-I would like to keep on enabling the youngsters, especially students, to understand and walk with Fair Trade. Fair Trade clubs, Fair Trade campuses, and Fair Trade study groups – our friends in the West have presented several wonderful ideas before us in this regard. We would like to take it forward, of course with an Indian touch.
We are looking forward towards your 'Fair' ideas. Happy & Fair New Year to all !!!. |
