Literacy India was set up in 1996 as a non-profit organization, with the objective of empowering underprivileged children and women by making them self-sufficient. Literacy India has clearly set the three E’s as its goal on a process of achieving in next decade i.e., Education, Empowerment and Employment. Their objective is to impart basic education and through exposing our students to a variety of vocational skills in performing arts, computer animation, etc.
Literacy India is focused on bringing about a Qualitative change in the lives of underprivileged children by giving a different meaning to education. We are looking at transforming the education landscape by introducing innovative methods of education to give children a wider canvas of exposure in a socio-cultural environment. It has created an environment where the children are encouraged to develop their own personality. Literacy India is doing pioneering work experimenting with a totally new educational model. Emphasis is on providing education not in the typical classroom manner, but to give a child a wider canvas of exposure in a socio-cultural environment.
Project Indha evolved from the rising financial crisis in the families caused due to unemployment and many social evils. Youth also seemed to be disillusioned due to lack of work. INDHA aims at creating community based livelihood enhancement models to achieve reduction in poverty in rural and semi urban areas in Gurgaon district in Haryana on a sustainable basis.
