HFTH Tibetan Carpets Weaving Center was founded in Twenty seventh day of December twenty Thirteen and was registered under company Act 1956 and is located at peaceful place 16-A, Shanti Niwas in Rajpur, Dehradun (Northern India).
We produce different kind of perfect quality durable artistic carpets and bags with different design. We have 20 employees working under our organization and among them 90% of employee were women as to meet our objective to empower women to work independently.
When you buy a Tibetan carpet from HFTH you will not only get a decorative carpet for your home, but you are making an important contribution to the livelihood of poor people with few other opportunities of employment. You are also supporting a tradition and knowledge which is in danger of disappearance.
The foremost activity of HFTH is to preserve the rich tradition of Tibetan Hand Knotted carpets and we provide employment opportunities for those unemployment, In our center we have provide employment for 20 people with good working condition, financial assistance towards their healthcare and their children’s education.
Our Company is a registered member of Ministry of commerce and industry under Government of India. It is also a registered member of Fair Trade Forum-India (FTF-I).
- The wool comes from New Zealand and it’s spun and dyed in India. The yarn has excellent color –fastness. The warp is of cotton, but traditionally in Tibet the carpets were 100 % wool. It takes about or more than a month for a weaver to make a carpets of size 3x 6 feet in regular quality.
- The regular carpets had 48 knots per square inch and are woven with three yarns. The superior has 70 knots per square inch and is woven with two yarns.
- The final stage is the trimming of the carpet, which takes about three days.
- There after the carpets goes through quality check up and is labeled with the weavers name, signature other details.
