GRAMIN VIKAS EVAM CHETNA SANSTHAN
Gramin Vikas Evam Chetna Sansthan (GVCS) is a grassroots NGO, working in Barmer Jaislmer district since 1998 and registered under the Rajasthan State Societies Act, 1958. The organization aims at working towards the empowerment of women artisans through the formation of Self-Help Groups (SHGs). Traditional techniques of appliqué cut work and patchwork are used to develop the products, as per the demands of the urban markets. The organization works with around 100 men and 11,000 women artisans around Barmer & Jaisalmer districts of Rajasthan (India).
GVCS has set up a network of artisans through formation of SHGs. These artisans are trained and capacitated to develop quality products. The organization also possesses an in-house workshop for training and skill development of these artisans and new design development as per the market needs & aspirations. GVCS has a good production capacity and is well equipped to deliver products as per the stipulated timeline by buyers.
The profits earned are used in up-scaling the project operations to have a greater outreach and community development work at large. The organization mainly focuses upon the socio-economic development of disadvantaged craft communities in western Rajasthan through promotion of their craft produce.
