ADITHI was founded by Late Ms.Viji Srinivasan, Dr. R.J.Rao, Mr. K.A.Srinivasan and Mr. Ganesh Pd. Singh. While Viji and Dr.Rao were developing Andhra Pradesh Dairy Development Cooperative Federation’s women’s dairying programme in Chitoor district of A.P., Ganesh Prasad Singh, was assisting Viji in implementing a tasar silk programme through another organisation in Bihar and K.A.Srinivasan was developing a strong tradition of process documentation through audio-visual aids for women’s projects in several key economic sectors – agriculture, dairying, fisheries, sericulture, small animal husbandry, khadi & village industries, handlooms and handicrafts.
