| Fair Trade Forum India (FTFI) and Hivos jointly organized an Alliance Building Roundtable discussion on “Inclusive Development through Fair Trade Approaches” on 4th February 2010 at Bhubaneswar, Odisha. The programme was inaugurated by the Chief Guest Smt. Anjali Behera, the Minister for Textiles & Handloom, Government of Odisha.

The goal of Roundtable was to initiate collective efforts or generate awareness to build up market and consumer base for the products and services offered by socially, environment friendly organizations through Fair Trade approaches. ORUPA (Orissa Rural and Urban Producers' Association) and BISWA were the associate organizations of the roundtable.
Mr. I. Mallikarjuna, Executive Director of Fair Trade Forum – India presided the Roundtable. Mr.Laxmi Narayan Nayak, IAS, Director for Textiles and Handlooms in Odisha, Dr.Bhababan Prakash, a social scientist, Dr. Supriya Pattanayak, DFID State Representative, were the Guests of Honour in the inaugural session. Distinguished guests were also present like such as Mr. P. K. Sahoo, Chairman, CYSD (Centre for Youth & Social Development), Mr. R.K. Mishra, Assistant Director, DC Handicrafts; Mr.Shreekanta Das, the Asst. General Manager of SIDBI and Mr. Madhusudan Mishra, Manager of NABARD
Mr. Jayakumar, Program Manager, FTF-I and Ms. Sayantini Das, Consultant were the facilitators.
Seventy five representatives from various development partners, NGOs from Odisha, Development Professional, activists and Academicians participated in the Roundtable. It gave opportunity to share their views and create a common platform of livelihood initiatives in the state of Odisha. The participants got a primary view of Fair Trade and Fair Trade model of sustainable Development.
