Join us in the Stakeholder Meet on ‘Fighting Child Labour in Home Based Craft Sector’ on 14 February 2013. The Venue is JHT Hotels, S-21, GK Part 1, New Delhi. The program forms part of the project ‘Fighting Child Labour’. Traidcraft, Fair Trade Forum – India (FTF-I) and Centre for Education & Communication (CEC) are the project partners.
The project is aimed at developing a locally appropriate and relevant model which will address certain aspects of child labour and children’s development in home workers’ families in collaboration with the partner organisations in both FTF-I and non-FTF-I supply chains. An action research has been completed by CEC and key elements of the model have been identified. These will be discussed in detail with the organizations attending the meeting. The elements of the model are likely to include – ensuring minimum wages for home workers, transparent and accountable systems in the supply chains, ensuring social security benefits for home workers, access to quality education (at subsidized or zero cost) to children of home workers, policy advocacy and involvement of the community among others. This meeting will aim to agree the basic elements of the model which will be rolled out this year i.e. from April 2013 by selected organizations in their areas.
